Wont Start After Strator Replacement
I replaced the strator on my 2001 F4I, everything seemed to go smoothly. When I tried to start it though bike wont start. Fuel pump works, and starter is making noise, but is not turning the engine over. It sounds like the starter is turning, but is not connected to anything ie engine. It basically sounds like if i were to hook up just the starter to a battery. Any ideas on what it could be? Battery is charged.
Are you sure the battery is fully charged?? You could also jump the starter, let it run, turn it off, and then see if it turns on normally. I would recheck all your connections and your charger before any of that though
Tried jump starting already same thing happens, just the noise. I did not unplug anything though when I was changing the strator. Before the strator cover replacement everything was fine. All I did was, unscrewed the strator from the cover and than screwed it back onto the new cover, than changed the gasket, and screwed the new strator cover back in place.
Do you have a battery charger? I would try it atleast. Because if it was grounded it may have drained out. Did you try the startor on a different battery or jumping it directly?
I think the first problem is that you replaced the starter with a strator and the part is not the same. Just kidding, I am just being an idiot. I have no idea what would it could be. Take your battery to a dealer to check if it is fobared. Other than that I can't help.
