Wind Noise
I've got a Shoei XSP that's pretty old. It was a hand me down helmet so I gave it a nice new look. The only thing I wasn't liking about this helmet was the wind noise that comes through the visor. I don't know how the original seal looked but this seal looks like it's fine, the rubber is still good but it doesn't press up against the visor like it probably did once since this was sold as the most quiet helmet around at about $600 or $700. The wind noise was so bad that when I went to use a head set for a phone call my right ear hurt so bad I had to switch, and this is the ear where the wind noise is most present.
SO... I needed to fix this and did. I took a look at the rubber seal and noticed a lip on the lower section at the top, and on the outsides for the sides and lower portion of the seal. I took probably 12 or 14 gauge wire from a power cord I cut in lengths to match the sections that were not pressing to the shield. For the top, I had to use two lengths of wire, one the entire length of the gap, and one more about 1/4 the length to fill in the section that leads to the side seals. The sides and bottom I used just a single wire.
The end results: No more wind noise and the seal firmly presses against the shield with just a bit of resistance when opening for the first click. HELL YEAH!!! So, if you have a helmet that's making noise, and you don't have the opportunity to return it, give this a try, it might just be the trick. You may need a different gauge of wire to break the gap but try different size wires and you might just be happy with your noisy helmet, not to mention hear again.

Well if i didn't want to comment i would not have bothered posting.
So i am just acknowledging the tut.
Kinda like a *bump since nobody else posted might get some more views since you obviously put some time into writing this up.
Its the first of its kind that i have seen so i figured i would just say. "okey"
Seems helpful enough. I just do not have that particular problem but i felt like showing a vouch of cognizance.

Right on gotcha, and thanks
It really helped a lot. Most of ya'll I'm sure have new helmets but some might have an old one like me, or some may just have some problems with wind like the guy crankin his iPod cuz the wind is so loud. Before the wind felt like it was cutting my ear off, and now it's really quiet on the freeway. There's still windnoise but it doesn't break into the helmet except for the vents, i.e. not around the shield which is what causes the screeching noise... unbearable. It's like the sound of a blower from an air compressor at 200 psi while you're blowing out a part like the brass jets on the bike. Now it's no more just the sound of turbulence

Glad it helped out! I've got a week straight of heavy freeway travel, and I've got no hearing problems from riding anymore, just the heavy metal is bangin on my ear drums... always and forever!
