starts cold, dies hot
hi all, have a 05 cbr 600 f4i. about a week ago felt like going for a ride. bike started up right away let it warm up jumped on and headed north bound, only made it about 6 mile's before she just died. got the bike back to the house and started troubleshootin. charging system is fine. so i started thinkin fuel issue. got a new fbr installed and still the same problem. she'll start when she's cold but 20 mins later nice a warm she die's. she'll crank but not turn over any idea's would be helpful. thanks n godbless.
bike has 23k on her and this is the 1st main problem ever.

next step is to see if your missing fuel, spark, or injector pulse when it wont start. when it does it, do you hear the fuel pump? do you have fuel pressure at the rail? do you have spark at the coils? do you have the electrical pulse at the injectors? if any of those are missing, the bike wont start.
does the r/r get warm when it dies? you cant really check the charging voltage without it running, but it may be over charging and shutting things down. try to check it right before it dies.
good luck

got pressure at RAIL. bike was running when i checked the system this morining. was a 14.3 vdc at 5 k rpm. got tank off now to check for spark.
also was thinking that when i changed the plugs possibly cracked the boot try to remove for head. damn designers. lol. runs for about 20 mins then dies so kinda leaning on having good spark but will inform on test seems how she's still warm with problem induced. if it was the ecu it wouldn't start at all? correct

Just out of curiosity does your machine have a camshaft sensor? it is exhibiting all the signs of sensor faliure when hot? also have the valve clearances ever been checked? If they are tight they will have enough clearance for compression when cold but when warm they will be held off the seats and no compression. Does the motor seem to turn over faster on the starter when she has died? good luck with the fault finding
yes she does have a cam sensor. got her running this evening. thought that if a drained tank put some fresh fuel (with little extra octane booster) that shouldhelp with fuel issue. there was signs of water in sump jar from tank. so what ya know fires up got up to 223 degree F. killed it. through the jacket on went up n down the streetfor half hour runs fine. gonnna stop tomorrow order cam sen.. wouldn't hurt to replace.. thanks all let ya know how a long ride goes.
