Default Slipping out of second gear..

My Friend has a 99 R6 and bike is in good shape never been down with 26k. Just bought the bike without being able to ride it due to the weather in Ohio.. Him and i just took it around the block and noticed that when in second gear only, it slips out of gear just momentairly and will keep doing it as long as on the gas. I cant put my finger on it. Anyone have any ideas? I was like maybe the shift fork or something.. Any help would be appreciated.

Default RE: Slipping out of second gear..

Sounds like shift forks and/or gears. My F3 had the situation where it would only kick out of second gear if I applied any throttle. When reluctantly I tore it down to investigate, one fork wasvery worn and several of the gear dogs (locks one gear intoanother)were pretty rounded.

Dont expect that issue to just go away, either...its only going to get worse. Get ready for a teardown.

Dealership tech said 2nd gears see alot of abuse due since that is the gear most hard city accelerating is done in, with alot coming just from the 1st to 2nd shift.
