Default F4i Slipping from 3rd to 2nd gear

I have a 2003 Honda F4i with 39,000 miles i ride it every day and maintain it well. But today i noticed that when accelerating from a stop first and second gear are fine from low to high rpm but when i get to third gear and accelerate at a bout 7-8000 rpm the trans slips in to 2nd gear. I feels like runing over some marbles and downshifting at the same time. I dont know if i go slow if it will do it but if i accelerate moderate to heavy it does it every time. I use Amsoil 10-40 motorcycle oil with an amsoil filter and i have a 520 coversion kit but ive never had any problems untill now. Anyone know what causes this???

Right i have had that happen before but never have had this 3rd gear thing happen whats up with that? I know car transmissions have syncrinizers that keep it in one gear untill you shift but i can kick it in 3rd gear and let the clutch fully out and accelerate and then about have the rpm range it slips back into 2nd.

I have the same problem with my bike except its 2nd gear only. From what I've read it all starts with a bent shift fork and over time it only gets worse. My bike is to the point where 2nd gear its useless, I have to either ride out 1st really long and skip second or stay in second for maybe 2000 rpms and then go into third. If I get on the throttle almost at all in 2nd it pops into neutral. So far the only solution I've read about is just replacing the tranny internals which is really expensive if you don't have the tools and know how to do it yourself. A complete set if tranny gears, shift forks, etc.. are fairly cheap on ebay(200ish).

thats a serious issue when trying to go to 3rd and popping into 2nd. thats a definite slip. just to add some lucas synthetic oil additive. it should help any clutch and tranny slipage. however, there will come a time when you will need to rebuild that tranny. how soon? that i dont know.
i hope its nothing wacky as a shifter problem.

I know exactly what your problem is. I had the same issue. Once you put your 520 conversion, you bike is now outputting more torque and your bikes clutch can not keep up with it. You need a new clutch. I went with a Barnett high performance clutch made of Kevlar and Carbon Fiber. Once you change it, that problem will go away. Same thing happened to me when I made my conversion.

I never remember having that problem with the my 520 but I cant recall if changed my clutched before or after i got my conver kit on!
I got a barrnet carbon fiber kevlar too!! Its nice! But they were out quicker and arent really designed for the street in my op! IF you ride hard then it works out! But if your just cruzin around stick with factory or go with EBC! But swap the clutch out fo sho!

Yes i purchased a Barnett Carbon Kit from ebay and installed it at 33,970 and i now have 39,004. I think a bent shifter fork or a bad syncrinizer mabe my problem.

It does slip from 3rd to 2nd even if i go slow. If i hold the shifter lever up while in third gear it slips at 7500 but holds strong all the way through third. I can feel it push down on the shifter at that rpm as well.
