Question Seat Removal....not so simple!

Hi
I'm a (brand) newbie and just acquired a 1999 CBR600F4 (I think) The owners manual indicates a lock at the rear taillight which you unlock using the ignition key and then remove the seat.......nice & simple, I thought. WRONG! Said lock is nowhere to be found. I've had a good snoop around the bike but can find any clues on a lock or how to remove the seat.

The bike was registered Feb 99, so I guess could possibly be an F3 rather than 4. Is there a different seat removal procedure for an F3; or, if the side panels just below the seat have been renewed, would the lock have been relocated somewhere else ??

Any ideas and comments welcome

Thanks

i just had same question about my f3 today. what i was told to make the big plastic screw lose on the mid section, right underneath the gas tank. both side rear panels will pop off and the bolts are underneath. once the bolts are off, the seat just pops right off.

Say what??? The F4 seat comes off the same way as the F4i banana seat.
The F4i split-seat has a rear key lock as well, that unlocks the rear seat...& two bolts under the rear corners of the front seat that allow it to be removed.

I got two pictures of the f3 seat. It has a “hook latch” at the front, but two 10-12mm bolts in the rear. Loosen the two rear bolts, and pull back on the seat. You may need a pry bar bepending on if you ve done work on the bike before.:
Two bolts should be hanging down from the seat.

Bottom of the seat.
