Default Seat

I was going to buy a Corbi seat for my rr but do you think an upholstery shop can recover it and make it more comfortable?

They can deffinitely recover it. They would most likely be able to modify the foam to make it more comfortable as well.

FF97,I, as a corbin seated 94 1000f enbiber, am thinking "what seat?????????" I love your bike, but...(pardon the pun) thats a pressing problem !!!!!!!!!!!! I feel (as an upholsteror) and corbin owner(3 of'm) that freaquently the biggest benifit of a aftermarket seat is the shape. Corbins are almost always, built up at the sides, for a more bucket shape. that side bolster effect redistributes the wieght, tolessen/ broaden the "load surface", always more comfy. sit on a friends corbin and see if you can find relief, then buy one , or ask you local uphol. to add abit on the sides, work w/ him even trying the foam shape out, befor recovering is completed(he dosen't want to cover it a second time !!!" have him use FIRM foam on the sides, possible up to "rebond" density. Talk to him, does he understand? find one, that does, before the drop off.
vote for most hienious seat???.....96 buel lightning, named after the seat!!!!!!!!(anything over 20 miles!!!!) the front section, 4" wide!!!!!!! the rear about 8" not pretty, I offerd to corbinize one, for my friend... "i'll go ebay"... although his 98$(used) corbin, is better... more children are no longer, a consideration!!!!!!!!!!
If your uphol. person uses any of the old foam... have him "steam" it. steam restores the boofynes of foam, if it has become abit "set" in it's shape. I have had great luck w/ foam density choice/ over exspensive gel inserts.... but it maybe the way to go, when you factor in wieght, (used in the chopper world, w/ thin seats)
Another consideration... some people hate corbins... shapes great... but too dang firm!!!!!! "breakit in" they say... some say, OUCH!!!!!!! still, after 1000 miles !!!!!!!!!!! maybe check out, sargent seats... Nothing worse than have'n a great day ride'n... but you ****, on fire !!!!!!!!!!!!! Clean and free, only smoke'n harleys!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ripp'n

+1 likity I am having my seat redone at an upholstery shop, with in a couple weeks I am definitely going to have the foam changed so it is softer, more plush and going to have it done in leather, pics later when it's done.

How much would something like that cost?

My quote from a local shop was 200-225 and insert a gel pad. On the other hand, i have someone who is offering to shave my seat for a pack of beer. Sounds tempting!

I was thinking of getting a corbin seat for my F3... anyone know how it will affect riding at the track? It seems to me that if it's more anatomically molded that it would inhibit sliding off the side to hang off the bike.

uhhh... flip it over, rip out staples, insert gel, re staple...

but the seat on the RR has little or no padding... not a lot of shaving you could do to it.
