CBR 100FJ Parts Seat+Seat/Helmet Lock
Hi Im new to the forum and was wondering if someone could help...
I recently purchased a CBR 1000FJ, its in pretty good nick, but does need a bit of attention.
The two things I want to replace are - the seat/helmet lock - basically it doesnt work
and the actual seat is in good condition but ripped in 2 places and gaffer tapped up, so I want to replace this to.
Does anybody know where I can get these from for a good price??
Ive saw a ok condition seat go on ebay for £50 inc P+P ( I missed the auction ) and I contacted David Silver ( Honda Parts Specialist ) and got quoted £266+VAT+Delivery for a brand new one. To be honest I want to spend as little as possible!! ( Credit crunch and all! lol ) Or is it cheaper to get it re-leathered???
The seat/helmet lock part was £26+VAT+Delivery from David Silver which seems fair. ( though if I can get it cheaper its a bonus! )
If any one has any advice, or even parts fro sale themselves it would be great ig you could contact me
Cheers!

Get your seat into a motor trimmer or upholsterer in your area ...a few guys here including myself have had them re done , they are cheap to do and look great afterward .
Type "seat" into the search on tis board and you will find threads about them in general....
What exactly does your seat lock not do ?? is it seized or something ?? I cant imagine why you would need to replace them unless you have lost the key ..?
Welcome onto the Hurricane boards mate .... and yer , I moved you here ....

There are a couple of guys in the UK that have had this done. If I remember correctly... I don't think it costs that much either...(less than 50) However, fleabay is also a good resource for a new seat. If you can stand to just sit on it (pun intended) and keep your eye on fleabay, another cheap one will pop up.
As far as the lock.... not sure what's wrong with it, either, like classic said. If it's siezed, you may want to try some penetrating oil like PB Blaster (if you have that stuff) or any other penetrating lube you can find.
Oh, and welcome! (again)
Hi guys thanks for the replies and the warm welcome ( and moving me to the right section!! )
I will definatly look into getting the seat upholstered then..sounds like the best option.
In regards to the seat/helmet lock...the key I have fits in and turns.....and keeps turning ....and turning...without releasing the catch....I dont know whats wrong with it

As far as yu seat lock goes ....hmmm??? I spose it is still actually connected to the little mechanism under the seat is it ?
Or does it just turn and nothing is moving ??
No, you just can't have 20 jimmys, steve..
See, that's when chit goes bad with locks and keys!
Sounds like a new lock may be in order, but if there's any way to fix it, I'd try at least. If you get a new one, you'll need to carry another key..
Not a huge deal, though, many already do for various reasons...
