i bought the above tool from j&p cycles to install my rivit link.all it does is push the pins out from one side to the other,am i doing something wrong or is this tool not the right tool.any thoughts are appreciated.

i just talked to j&p and i bought the wrong tool.im probably going to buy one from motion pro,i need to wait until they open and get a recommendation from them.thanks

That looks like the tool to press the side plate on. Any other parts come with it?

that is correct,butwhat it does it pushes the sideplate against the pins and pushes the pins out the other side,and no there arent any other parts with it.now,for the sake of argument,if it did push the side plate on correctly,how would i smooshthe pins so the plate doesnt back off?thanks

if you get the motionpro breaker there is a hole in the end of the long arm of the tool that you can put a screwdriver through to spread out the head of the rivet once the plate is on.

Edit: but if youre going to be spending money on a tool anyways, get the right tool. itll make it 20x easier

i ordered the 95.00 motion pro tool today,the shop i ordered it from sold it to me for 80.00.hopefully that will do what i want.now i can go into business pressing on links...lol.

Yeah, like I said, it presses the side plate on. Most commenly used for the c clip masterlinks.
