I've got 2 buddies that have 1000RR's. Neither has had any basket or gear problems. One is 04, other is 05. The 05 is drag only and runs a pretty big hit of spray with stock basket and tranny, no problems yet. The 04 is completely street legal and has run a best of 5.93 with a 1.41 60 ft. Those things fly!!

Neither use extensions. Both are Coby Adams' arms. While you have basket out (if it is a rivot), check the springs on the backside. If they have more than just a tiny bit of play, go ahead and grind off the rest of the rivots and shim those springs. It'll make a world of difference launching it. Here are pics of both bikes.

I'll have to look at pics when I get home, work pc has dang firewalls or something and I can't view it. I'm not talking about the clutch springs, I mean the springs at the back of the basket inside the gear. And yeah, weld them. If you dragrace much, sooner or later bike is going to start jumping/lunging when you try to leave hard. Shimming those springs will cure that.

Aw man, doesn't George Howard run Montgomery? That sucker used to run Huntsville where I run. He is a multi-millionaire and was too cheap to put down enough VHT to hook up. Since he's left, track hooks like crazy. It'll pull your sneakers off your feet walking cross the starting line LOL. I've never been that far south. Closest I've been is Steele. Hopefully one day I can make it. I'd love to come down and whoop some Busa's with my lil 900 (wink wink). Luckily nobody around Huntsville knows their Hondas and hasn't spotted that Bird motor sitting in my frame LOL. I've walked off and left 1341 Busa's (older models with 08 crank in it) in my dust and it's still a stock motor. Wait til this winter and I drop an 1195 kit in it and small shot of spray. She should run some 5.50s easily.

yea its not something that would be noticed down here either, i dont know whos running montgomery. it the closest 1/4 other than albany or valdosta ga. the other track we go to is in fl called breakaway its the best one around runs slightly uphill though.

for me i like the road track but still get right at 7 flat on a stock lenght and gear 954
