rear suspension adjustments
Being 6'1" and 230lbs I think I will adjust the rear suspension to hopefully be able to take corners harder without the feeling of the rear sliding out. If I set it to the hardest, setting 7 on the scale, will it hurt the bike riding through crappy town on beat up roads or just my butt? Where do I get these tools from? In the manual it said something about some wrench I was supposed to get to do an oil change I didn't get a single thing though. Was the bike supposed to come with something to adjust the rear spring?

**Edit What the heck is a pin spanner? Something I have to buy or was that supposed to come with my bike too?

I call it a "C" spanner, it fit around the bottom of the rear shock, adjuster is stepped, has about 7 levels of movement (1 being the softest)
"C" Spanner has a pin on one end the fits into the adjuster.
As for the rear end stepping out Vs your height and weight, welcome to the mysterious world of "suspension set up".
Everyone has a different opinion on wot is the best set up. Set the suspension up to hard and there is a chance it will step out anyhews, as well as giving your kidneys a work out.
It's a combination of Spring, and damping adjustment (if your bike has it), the damper adjustment controls the rate in which the rear suspension rebounds from compression (pushed down) in combination with your own weight compressing the spring as you go over dips and bumps in the road., to much adjustment and the rear spring my not get a chance to fully extend itself before you hit the next kidney bruiser, and cause your suspension to bottom out, lifting your bum about two foot in the air.
The damping aduster is on the top of the shock and is usually turned with a screw driver (and is usually marked "Soft - Hard)
It's a matter of matter of trial & error with both adjustment to see wot suits your riding preferences.
Have you checked to see if you have a tool kit, under the left side cover or under the seat?
If not, the spanner is not that expensive to get, thier usually a universal fit, so try getting on at a bike wrecker.
And good luck with the set up.

also...when cornering...all your weight should not be on the inside peg...you should be out of your bike, and the inside of your outter leg is pressed against the tank to hold you on...
I never saw a kit under the seat and they didn't mention anything about one at all when I bought the bike. It's an 06 f4i bought from the dealer. You say look under the left fairing? I'll look there too when I get home. I'm going to be pissed if I was supposed to get a tool kit and the dealership screwed me! Anyway when I'm adjusting the rear, I don't think I need to adjust the front I don't seem to have any problems with it, should I only adjust one thing at a time? Or should I adjust the spring with the C spanner, the thing with the screw driver, and the can on the side with the compressed gas in it too? Making them all harder for the fat rider as myself.
