Default Problem...Like CCT but NOT!

Ok, heres the problem, ive replaced the CCT twice on my 2002 F4i in the past 6 months, and after about 2-3 months the dam noise just keeps coming back. I'm thinking my cam chain is stretched or the actual lifter inside the bike is worn. The bike has 18,000 miles, and how quads go through cam chains i wouldnt be suprised it was the chain.

So...will i have to split the case to replace the cam chain? or do they make a masterlink style chain you can just feed through?

Has anyone else had to do this, on any bike, not just an f4i?

Thanks!

Did the noise go away completely after changing the CCT? If so - replace the CCT again. If the cam chain is stretched really badly you could run out of adjustment, and then it won't matter which CCT you use. I don't think 18,000 miles is that high though.

If not - then you have to consider other sources of noise - valves needing adjustment being the most likely to make that kind of noise.

If it went away with a new cct then that is your problem. Buy an APE manual tensioner, they are better.

On top of that 18k is low mileage. I have 55,000 on my F2 and the valves have yet to need adjusted and the cam chain is still tight.
