Problem...Like CCT but NOT!
Ok, heres the problem, ive replaced the CCT twice on my 2002 F4i in the past 6 months, and after about 2-3 months the dam noise just keeps coming back. I'm thinking my cam chain is stretched or the actual lifter inside the bike is worn. The bike has 18,000 miles, and how quads go through cam chains i wouldnt be suprised it was the chain.
So...will i have to split the case to replace the cam chain? or do they make a masterlink style chain you can just feed through?
Has anyone else had to do this, on any bike, not just an f4i?
Thanks!

Did you use a factory replacement cct or an ape? I've heard alot of people say that they've had to re-replace the oem ccts after only a short time in the bike. Should consider going to an ape, if the cct noise comes back then you just readjust the ape cct and go on with your day. The oem replacement parts have a pretty bad track record, even the new one thats supposed to be "fixed" and improved. I highly doubt its your cam chain thats the problem.

Did the noise go away completely after changing the CCT? If so - replace the CCT again. If the cam chain is stretched really badly you could run out of adjustment, and then it won't matter which CCT you use. I don't think 18,000 miles is that high though.
If not - then you have to consider other sources of noise - valves needing adjustment being the most likely to make that kind of noise.
