why oh why would a company that sells a $3 product for $12 tell you its the only one you should use? it just makes no sense...

Honda might have made your bike but that doesn't mean their oil filters are any better than anybody elses

personally I use K&N for convenience

Honda dealers sell their filters for $6.95 (local dealers around here anyway). I know the Honda stuff isn't the BEST stuff out there, but at the same time, it's now where near being considered "sub-par".

Rotella T Synthetic 5w-40 and Purolator PURE1 Filter in my bike

Mobil 1 15w-50 and Purolator PURE1 Filter in my RX-7

I've done the research, believe me turbo rotary engines are even more picky than bikes about their oil and change intervals. I change oil in the 7 every 1500 miles.

You can overpay for Honda stuff if you want but someone else makes thier consumables. Hell some rotary guys pay $35 a piece for Mazdaspeed ones! I guess it's true that there's a fool born every minute.

So...how do you change the filter without getting oil over the pipes? Just curious...I let the oil burn off last time...didn't have the proper size wrench to remove the first one...so I used a screwdriver. Got kindof messy...now I remember why my dad used to put news papers under the pan...

tin foil under the filter to direct oil to where you want it to go.
