No matter what gear I'm in between 6000 and 6300 rpms I hear something that sounds like a metal grinding noise. It's a high pitch noise and it's really annoying since that range is the 75mph range for my f4i. Anyone had this problem before, or heard of it? I just got it back from my dealer for the 600mile service and I asked them to check it but they didn't say anything about it at all when I picked it up. I also forgot to ask about it but it was on the paper.

My bike makes more engine noise in that rpm range than any other. I think that it is just a range where the engine vibrates more, or perhaps there is some resonance in the airbox or something...

 

Sounds like the CCT for both of you. i have the same problem but I heard it wont do anything as long as its the Cam Chain Tensioner and not the Chain itself

 

I think that DThompson is right. From what I've read on here it is a very common problem with the F4i's and because of this a honda dealer will fix it for free. The only problem is that it will eventually happen again. Some guys out here have been using an aftermarket tensioner that has solved the problem however. Search a little bit and you should find a bit of information on it.
