Default No Electrical Power

OK It's been a long time since I posted since my bike has been running great. I did a quick search and couldn't find what I was looking for, so here goes.

I have a 97 CBR 600 F3 that I bought used a couple of years ago. Haven't had to do anything to it except tune it up and enjoy it. It sat most of last winter in a heated garage on stands. I started it up 2 days ago and let it warm up. It was a little reluctant to fire since it had been sitting so long, so I had to crank the starter more than I usually do. The battery has been on a Battery Tender over the winter and is reading fully charged (according to the charger). When I cranked it to start it, there was no indication of the battery dying.

Today I took it off the stands and pushed it outside in preparation for a little ride. It fired right up, then died withing about 5 seconds. At that point I noticed there was no electrical power to the bike anywhere. No starter, no lights, no horn, nothing. I pluged my Battery Tender back in and it showed the battery as being 80% charged. (steady red light w/ flashing green)

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to electrical issues so I'm not sure exactly where to start looking. I checked the fuses and they're all OK. Is it possible I could have ashorted cell in my battery?

Thanks in advance for any insight you can give.

Check your main fuse hasn't blown, or one of your battery cables isn't loose.......

+1 on a loose battery cable! They'll suprise you... especially if even the slightest amount of corrosion builds up in there. If the battery really was 80% charged, you should have gotten at least lights on the guages or a dim headlight or something!

The only chance for 100% no power is a blown main fuze or the battery not totally making contact. Even a shorted cell in the battery would light up the guage lights when you turned the key on... it would just go straight to clicking when you hit the starter.

Thanks for the info. I checked the fuses, but wasn't aware of the main fuse. Sounds like a good bet that's blown. I'll check it tomorrow when I get home from work.
