Default New turn signal lights…how to disconnect and reconnect current splice?

Hi guys.

I have a 2003 cbr 600 f4i….hotbodies flush mount turn signals. They were upgraded before I bought the bike so I didn’t do any of the splicing.

if I want to buy a new pair and just hook up to existing splice, can you guide me how to disconnect splice and reconnect?

I know Honda has a daytime running lamp for the headlight and that determines if it’s two wires or three….it seems I have it hooked up red/black to green/orange.

two questions:
1) how to disconnect and reconnect the splice?
2) is it indeed two wires? This way I know how to buy?

thank you very much!

If you're lucky there will be a bullet connector under the shrink wrap on that splice.

But, they are not considered reusable - if there's connectors under the shrink, find matching ones. If not, either cut the wire higher up towards the indicator and make a new splice, or separate the existing one by crushing it between pliers until it lets go.

Best to restore harness back to factory configuration with 2-way plug and 1 bullet connector per light. This will be way, way better than what you have now because those crimps have poor contact surface-area and it's possible to mis-connect them and blow fuses and melt wiring. Undo existing crimp terminals without cutting wires if possible to maintain length.

Can get original 2-way harness sockets here:

And matching plugs that go to lights here:
https://www.corsa-technic.com/item.php?item_id=415

Ground is connected with bullet connectors:

If you're trying to connect 2-wire LED lights to 3-wire harness, so that both running-lights and winkers function, then you'll need pair of diodes to create OR circuit. Might as well use single 3-way connectors like CBR600RR and do away with that messy bullet-connector.

Thank you for your help guys! I’m gonna take a look at this info and do my best to digest it and then post what I find! I’m not that well versed when it comes to electronics and wiring so let’s see.

Pretty simple if you take it one step at time.

1. As mentioned, you can continue squeezing existing crimps on current terminals to crush it and it should fall off.

2. then crimp on terminals that come with factory connector kit:

3. most likely you don't have crimper-die customized for these terminals, so generic crimpers end up looking like this. That's ok, apply little dab of solder over crimp to seal end of wire and it's perfect. Solder prevents moisture from creeping down internally on wires and causing black/green wire disease.

4. shove into connector-housings and you've got better-than-new plugs for both harness and lights for simple plug-n-play installation.

Nice thing is connectors are keyed, so can only plug in one way. No guessing which wire to connect where and making mistakes that'll blow fuses endlessly and melt wiring.

I'll write up a DIY post on converting CBR600F 2-plug signals into single 3-way 600RR plugs for simple plug & play installation of ANY aftermarket light without hacking up factory harness.

lol - I recognize that goop on the wire to stop water from wicking up the insulation - Liquid Electrical tape - it's magic stuff!

Heh, heh... yeah, I prefer adhesive heat-shrink tubing:

https://www.mcmaster.com/products/ad...shrink-tubing/
Amazon - 270 pcs Adhesive Assortment Amazon - 270 pcs Adhesive Assortment

Once the black/green wire-disease starts, there's no way to stop it without replacing entire wire end-to-end.
