Default LED wiring dilemma

Hey guys,
First off let me start by saying that I ride an '01 600 f4i. Next, let me describe my issue. I just finished installing LEDs inside the two air intakes and wired them to a switch by my handlebars so that I can use them as running lights (added visibility for cages). What I'd really like to do is make it so that when the switch is on and the LEDs are on, the LEDs will flash whenever I turn on my turn signals. Would this be possible by just splicing the positive to my turn signal wires? Or is this even possible? I wanted to get some opinions before I start ripping out my bikes factory wiring for no reason. Thanks!!

Hello,
Yes you can make your added lights flash. Page 20-1 of the service manual has the wiring diagram if it helps. There is a grey 12 wire connector near the left air intake tube that has all of the wiring available in one place. The easiest way to do this would be to add a simple relay (one per side) which would toggle the lamp off when the turn signal for that side is on. Your factory turn signals will have one two wire connector and a single wire connector. The positive left turn wire (12 volt from flasher / turn switch) is orange, and the right is light blue. The relays and sockets are cheap and readily available. I will be glad to help further if needed.

Someone else has a write-up in the how to section but you do need to replace the flasher relay with one meant for LEDs, though they can be found easily on ebay for super cheap.

Edit: I'll draw up another wiring diagram for you so you can make it work so they function the same, But I need to know if you have stock turn signals or aftermarket signals, I also need to know if they are aftermarket if they also function as running lights. once I got that I will have you a wiring diagram.

This is the wiring diagram I used to make my ram air vents only flash when I turned the blinkers on, to do what you want to do I will need to alter it a bit.

+1

That's exactly what I did (Both the Intake LED running lights/ turn signals and the wiring)

I have aftermarket led turn signals. They also don't have the correct resisters on the, cuz my turn signals blink fast -_- but they do not also act as running lights. Thanks so much for the help guys. Also, are your HID's 6000?

Just get a new flasher relay, and don't mess with resistors.

Electronic flasher from Superbright LEDs, around $9, and can handle up to 4 LED turn signals. I have one on my bike.
