Can you take some pics?

Not sure it really matters tho. You have a concern about how they installed the chain. Take the bike back and make them redo the master link. Prolly won't sit right in your head till you do.

Oh well, can't get pics cause camera doesn't take good close ups. But the split in the one pin looks good but the other pin has a split about 1mm.

Make sure its not just a mark left by the tool. If the tool has any imperfections, they will transfer to the pin. If both pins have cracks or splits, I'd not trust it. For peice of mind, replace it. its not that expensive even if you have to have someone else do it. You'd hate to have a chain come undone. Potential for crashes and cracked engine cases is far to great of a risk in my opinion.

The thing I would be concerned with is if they compressed it hard enough to split the pin, its probably way too tight. There are shims they are suppose to use to guide how far to compress the links, then they set the pins. If they went too far in setting the pins, they could have tightened up the link too much and it will wear very fast. I would at the very least loosen up the chain and get as much slack as you can. then try to pivot the master link and see how hard it pivots. If its really hard, have them replace the link.

But, pictures would be good. From your description and not actually seeing it, I'd replace it. If you can pics up, it might be a different story.

A split in the masterlink, although probably won't cause any problems, you paid them to do it right. It clearly states in the maual that if there is any cracking or splits to replace the master link. There is no question here. If they give you any grief, stand your ground.

did you buy the chain and sprocket and bring it to them or is it oem?

only askin is bc alot of aftermarket stuff that the dealer puts on if something goes wrong they wnt cover it and you're up a certain creek w/o a paddle. if its oem they take it back and tell them to do it over b/c its your life and if something goes wrong they will be held accounted for.

Its a stealth sprocket and D I D gold series chain. I havent taken it back yet. I just decided to order a new master link for 8.95 and find a chain tool and do it myself. from here on out any work that it needs in the future im just going to do it myself .
