How to drain & re-fill 98 cbr 600 coolant. URGENT
Hi!
I'm sorry to do this but I'm stuck....
I need my bike back on the road for work tomorrow, but after snapping a manifold bolt I needed to remove radiator to gain access, this causing most of the coolant to pour out...
I've tried to rinse it through with water (pipes, rad and header tank) but I want to make sure it's all out.
Can anyone please give me a dummies guide (cause I'm not bike minded) on how to fully drain and then re-fill the system to safe riding standard.
Thank you in advance and sorry for the urgency of it
Xx

this is for a 89 cbr600, same concept. their should be 2 drain bolts on the front of the engine near the headers, and theirs a drain bolt on the water pump, just follow the radiator lines.
so now, start the bike and begin slowly, and i mean slowly begin pouring coolant into the rad fill neck. after it seems full rev the bike high up, when it comes down your going to notice the coolant level droped, add more coolant and repeat till necessary. after the level holds cap the rad fill and top off the over flow tank, take it for a ride and watch your temp gauge VERY carefully, if it starts to go above normal, turn around and go back home you probably have an air lock and will need to rebleed the system.
have fun!

Well, considering it's riding season and it will be above freezing what I would do is just go to the store and buy about five gallons of distilled water, fill it up and burp the system by running it and revving it for a while, then fill it up completely. Each day drain the water out and add more water, do this for a few days. This will make sure that all the gunk is out of your radiator if it was ever neglected. once that's done just take the bottom hose off the pump and let it all drain out. Then add the honda premixed coolant and you should be good. The little bit of distilled water left in the overflow shouldn't hurt anything since it should get mixed back in over time and isn't enough to dilute it.
