Thats what I did had the tank off and removed the petcock and dumped it in a bucket then set in sun to dry out the rest of the fuel.

I got a syphon hose with a hand pump from the local car parts store for like $5 and you put one end in the tank and pump it till it starts flowing and it drains the whole tank, Worked perfect and didn't spill a drop

I use my vacuum pump to remove gas. I hook it up with the cup like I was going to bleed brakes then when the line fills up I pinch the hose near the cup. I make sure that the cup is lower than the tank. Then I remov the cup from the line. If you do this right you will have gas flowing through the line still. You can then let the end of the hose go in a fuel can or jug. You could also use your mouth to suck the gas through the line, but I do not reccomend that.

Quickest way,flip bike over.....jk.

If you don't have to remove for any other work go with a simple piece of tubing and a little mouth suction (I know,I know a little g@y)
