Default frame swap

just got a 1988 cbr1000 and would like to change the steal frame to an aluminum frame. Just wondering what year frame could I use and would everything match up?

Dude, motorcycles aren't like Lego blocks. You're asking for a world of frustration from what you want to do.

Well have fun in your garage building your frame. Send me the pictures when it's all done! I'd really like to see it completed.

Good luck to you. There isn't anything that will be a direct swap. Anything you do will require custom work, lots of money, and time. Then after all that, it won't be street legal. The frame on your bike is the major structure. There is a reason when a frame is bent, they usually total a bike. If you replace the frame with one thats homemade or custom built, it won't have a VIN# and be street legal. So if you ever get pulled over or inspected, you might be in a world of trouble. Just something to think about.

hey thanx, I did not know that and I will keep that in mind.

Does that also include the sub frame?

I've been thinking of just changing the sub frame to a newer style bike.
