Default Sub frame swap?

hey guys I have been wanting to swap out my subframe for one from a newer model and I was wondering what model works well and what kind of work it would take I know that whatever I decide to do it will take a good amount of modification...

Take a closer look at your bike, the sub frame is welded on.

Default subframe

yeah I know that mine is welded on but I really love the look of the slim tails on the newer bikes. So I figured that I would have to cut grind and weld to make a subframe mate properly.

Well then in that case, anything will fit.

Default subframe

yeah thats what I figured but I was just curious if anyone had any sort of previous experience good or bad with doing the subframe swap. I have been looking around the forum and I have found quite a few threads showing before and after but no one really goes into detail about seat position, comfort, new ride positioning, and mating of fairings.

I did a '06-'07 Yamaha R6 tail swap on my '94 F2. Seat position and riding position is identical, comfort went a little simply because the r6 seat is stiffer with less foam. And the mating of the fairings isn't an issue for me, considering there aren't any besides the tail and the headlight housing. It's not 100% finished but I have a build tread going with lots of pics:

Here's some pics of how it sits now. First pic is just before i blacked everything out, but the picture is the clearest I have and shows the conversion the best:

I did the 99-02 r6 subframe swap along with f4i fairings ad gauges. Heres the thing im going to tell you before you do this. If your looking to do some what of all the stuff i did like f4i gauges and fairings and tail swap get ready to spend alot of time ad money and i hope you dont get flustered easy cause doing this stuff will get you there fast when modding a bike to fit stuff that wasnt supposed to be there in he first place. Ive got some pictures floating around this site some where cant throw any pics up cause im doing all of this from my phone but check out my thread call ''f2 to f4i/r6'' .....oh ad the reason you havent really found any detailed stuff is because no bike when you mod it as much as we do is going to be the same soo really cant go into detail that much. The only thing you can really do is just get ideas from people and go from there. Your riding position if you go the way i went is more aggresive which means it leans you more to the front of the bike instead of like you sitting in a lazy boy with the factory f2 seat. this is the type of stuff your just gonna have to look at with a general idea of how to do it and then just do it yourself. Find a tail you like and get the subframe plastics and battery tray and just cut your subframe off thats what i did.just make sure you have some what of a game plan lol......also cut 1 time measure twice i cant stress enough if you cut to much off in this case you can put more back on but it will be a pain in the cheeks. Let us know what you decide
