Default EXAUST straight piped

ran in to a guy the other day that basiclly cut his stock muffler off then welded a piece of pipe on at a slight angle then put a baffle cut off an old exhaust on the end and thats it ,it sounded alright just a little loud for my taste, but told me that was about 15$ worth of stuff and there it is compared to 300-500$ for an aftermarket, kinda makes want to do it cause can`t really afford the one i want(2-BROS)right now ----guess my Q, is--is this ok,can it hurt bike ,cause any problems with power,etc.... thanks

Some say it will be bad andsome dont. I cut my stock apart and gutted it (not like some tutorial that said to just cut the inner tube) Ireally gutted it. Then I cut out the stock outlet (1 7/8"??) and added (2 1/2-3" piece). Sounds better than most slip-ons I've heard. Havent had any prob's yet and never backfired once. I think It's not as much of a concern as some make it out to be.

I have ordered my Two Bros m2 carbon, for the cleaner look though.

well...some will bitch about back pressure and stuff...but when you take the aftermarket pipe and look through it...it's straight through as well. as long as you're not running a SUPER DUPER HUGE 10" pipe...the restriction at the header and some piping after should be enough...but if your valves get burnt...it's YOUR fault...not mines...

You may run a little sluggish at first, and your A/F may be off a little, but it is not different than gutting out a can. If you just have a gutted can and pipe, it will be the same thing as just a pipe. However, if you DO plan on doing this. I would recommend one thing. Do NOT cut apart your stock exhaust and weld a pipe on. Take your pike to a Mad Hatter Muffler, or whatever type of exhaust places you have by you and have them take a pieve of pipeand bend it for you. That way, if something goes wrong, or you plain just dont like it, you will have something to fall back on. It may cost you $40 including the pipe to have a muffler/exhaust placebend the pipe for you. Thats what I would do, that way you dont ruin your stock. And if it does turn out that your do like it and everything is ok, then sell your stock exhaust. It shouldnt effect anything internally, but will most likely mess with your mistures and what not, but if you have a pcIII, you should be able to work stuff out, but good luck.

bikes look like turds with the 45 degree car tips and sound terrible. Ishorten down about 3 pipes a week at the shop, and it seems like every time a guy leaves, his buddy comes in to get the same thing done. (last week, I did a scorpion on a gsxr 1k, a yosh rs3 on a gsxr 750, and a d&d on a zx10) I've got a 7 1/2 d&d on one of my 929's and a 10 inch M4 onmy other 929. The m4 sounds alot better because I left all of the packing in it (minus what was cut from the can) The d&d is annoying to anybody riding behind me but when I cut it, I gutted it totaly and welded the two inner pieces together. (it's basically a straight pipe with a D&D outter cover) In the end you're going to do what every makes you the happiest, we're just here for the different ideas. Good luck to you.

if you cut the mid pipe, that's about the only option you have. (read first post) I've seen a couple of soldiers here do it.

Yea, I did read it, but I have never seen a car tip put on. I've seen just a 1 1/2 or 2" piece of pipe to match the midpipe to make it look like there is just a pipe, but I have never seena car tip welded on. But like I was saing, just go to a muffler shop and let them bend one solid pipe for you from your headers to your tail, atleast thats what I would say do if anything

I agree, if your gonna do the short stubby coming out at the rearset, do a totally new piece of pipe. It just makes more sense.
