my bike got almost 16k..i alwasy keep my chain clean..i wanted to know if i could cut a link on a chain so i could reuse..is there any down side to that ? just tryin to save soe bucks .. buying a new chain n sprockets could cost arm n legs ..

Yeah, you're new chain could wear out sooner than expected because of the old sprockets. And when you get new sprocets the used chains will wear them out quicker. Its always best to buy a new chain AND new sprocets.

when I bought both, it only cost me like $200 or so for the sprockets and chain combined. $300 at most for a set of new sprockets and chains, its not THAT expensive.

+1, on eBay you can get chain & sprocket sets for less than $200. I just got a 520 conversion kit for $159.99 shipped.
