Default chain ?

I need a new chain, what brand are most of you running? and what about the 520 conv? how much can you expect from changing over to it. I'm thinking about getting the new X ring RK530XSO. anything good or bad about RK chains

What do you want out of it -- just a new chain? Or did you want to play with the gearing a bit? I'm running the RK 520 on my 1000RR with no problems for 5K miles. I'm considering going back to my old 530 luggy chain and sprockets for gas mileage reasons for the rest of the winter. But if you're satisfied with how your bike accelerates and tops out then go back with stock sprockets and chain of your choice. I've had excellent experience with RK and D.I.D chains -- not so good with EK[:'(]

I do a lot of freeway miles so I want something that will last but I've heard that the 520 frees up a little H.P. My bike is a "00"929rr with pwrprogrmr, Full erion pipe, has great top end now. What do you get with regearing , more bottom end?

Exactly -- quicker acceleration at the expense of top end. If you do mostly freeway then it might be a bit buzzier also. If you're happy now then I wouldn't change anything. Putting a 520 on with the same gearing will free up a bit of power but nothing earth shattering.

D.I.D and R.K Always been the best in my experience last longer than anything else I`ve used.

I personally am not a convert to the 520 conversion thinking. I mean when i`m yankin the throttle to the stop I like to know theres a nice thick chain there no chance of stretch or break.

Just my op.
