How do you know when the chain needs to be replaced?

 

When you can no longer adjust to proper slack. Typically, the adjusters will be completely out. Of course, a chain should be replaced if its been neglected & is rusty, has a kinked/damaged link, etc.

When in doubt, swap it out.
