Brake Pad Noise?

Brake Pad Noise?
I know this is my second post in a row and I want to appologize. My brake pads make that rubbing noise only in specific places. The fron is worse than the back. When I had it on stands today doing the chain I noticed a rubbing sound when I turned the rear tire, which I can only assume is the brake pad rubbing a bit it some places. So I checked the front and it is even worse. What can I do to fix this?

RE: Brake Pad Noise?
Well assuming the wheels aren't hanging up at these points I would call this normal. Motorcycle brake pads are usually far more aggressive than say automotive pads...as such they make some noticible noise when encountering the "run outs" (a little bit of misalignment is inevitable in a brake rotor) in the rotor. You say you have stands...put the bike on them and give each wheel a good spin...it should free wheel smoothly and as long as it isn't hanging up badly at these points this is no cause for alarm. Also check out your pads and make sure there is plenty of material left on them; most of the time they wear unevenly and this can aggrivate the problem.

Nahh, the front is hanging pretty good. It appears as though there is still a descent amount of pad left. I will be doing my 8k tune up pretty soon and will address this more in detail. When I spin the front she hangs up well enough to keep from making two full revolutions. That to me appears to be a bit excessive!
Thanks for the help.

Yeah I would say so....hmmmm...if you have a dial indicator you can mount it up and check the measured run out on each disk...the factory manual says there should be less than 1.2 thousandths of an inch (.0012") of run out....it also suggests checked the wheel bearings if this spec is meet.
