Default Bike Stalls

Sometimes while riding my 1996 F3 at about 80mph or cruising speed all of a sudden the bike will hesitate and stall. I'll try to give it some throttle before cutting out and it doesn't want to go just spits and sputs. Bike will not start right away, it will just crank and crank when I attempt to start. Even w/ some choke it wont start and if it does it runs rough and eventually cuts off w/in a minute or so. Sometimes I have to wait about a half hour or so and it might start again. This is w/ plenty of gas in the tank, I think its been happening once the tank reaches half full, but there's plenty left before having to go to reserve. I think it might be something w/ the carbs but not sure. Once running it runs great, but once in awhile this will happen forcing me off the road and being stranded for lengths of time. Has this happened to anyone?

A vaccuum may be forming in your tank due to a pinched vent line or a faulty fuel filler cap. When it happens next, pull over and pop the fuel filler cap. If you can hear a loud rush of air, you've definitely got a vaccuum forming. This will keep the fuel from being able to descend into the carburetors.

i have a buddy that had that problem on a hyosung 650. he would carry an extra with a quick realese on the key chain and just pop the gas tank lid going down the highway. after he poped the lid the bike would run fine again.
