Default Bike sitting for a year

Hey everyone,

I'm thinking of purchasing a 2000 929rr that has been sitting in the seller's garage for the past year.
What are some things I should replace/change/drain/etc?
I've read that the gas could get stale if it sits for too long, but can anyone back this up?
Thanks in advance.

Rob

ya gas can get bad but you should check the tank...look for rust or the color (it shouldn't be brown) on top of that I would replace the oils and fluids just to be sure. I dunno about anything else tho someone else will chime in im sure

+1 on the gas thing and all the fluids, look for cracks at the top and bottom of the forks. Extra strain on the forks form doing wheelie will show up there, thats my biggest thing. But generally if something does look right ask and if the answer does seem right, check with someone else.

Bad gas is a BASTARD. You'll want to take the tank off, empty it, and clean it if you can. If your mechanically inclined, I'd take all the gas out of the bike that you can. Fuel rail, everything. Put some fresh gas in it and maybe run some injector cleaner in a tank. Some say prolonged use of injector cleaner can be bad in the long run, but the positives of using it right now would outweigh the negatives by far. Pick up some new plugs, throw some new oil and filter and you should be straight. If you buy it. The problems is doing all of this before you buy it so you know it runs good. You don't want to run the gas that's in there right now through the motor, but you'll probably want to see it run before you buy it.

Good luck.
