Default Bike shuts off when I gun it???

I am new to this forum but need some help from people who have had CBRs in the past. I have a 2006 CBR 600rr and it has less than 5,000 miles on it. Just recently when I really get on it and open up full throttle the oil light comes on and the bike sputters and shuts off. Like today from a stop sign I gunned it up to about 13,000rpm then shifted to second gunned it up to 13,000rpm and when I did the red light next to the oil symbol came on and the bike sputterred and shut off while I was driving. I tried to turn it back on while coasting in neutral but it would come on for a second and shut back off. I had to come to a complete stop on the side of the road and wait a couple minutes and then started it and it worked fine and I got home fine.

Does anybody have a clue why it is doing this or what I can do? It never used to do this and I just changed the oil and the filter the other day so I don't think that is the problem.

Sounds like you need to have a tech look at your wiring, or your bike isn't getting enough fuel - maybe partially blocked fuel filter.......

Generally, if the bike always ran good and it just started acting up just after something was done to it, thats the first thing to check, not write it off as something to not consider. Some bikes are equiped with a low oil pressure cut off that will stop the engine if oil pressure is too low. If you dont have enough oil in the bike, hard acceleration can move the oil away from the pickup and create a loss of oil pressure. The first thing I would check is to make sure you have enough oil in the bike. The second thing would be to make sure your using the proper oil filter.

what oil and filter did you use?

yeah i started putting 93 octane gasoline in the bike instead of 87 and it hasn't done it since. My user manual says use 87 or higher so i just thought 87 was what i should use. Guess i was wrong.

We get 95 as a lowest octane here, either leaded or unleaded.
Bike has never had a fuel related problem, even at 5500 on our highlands where we run 87.
Based on that, maybe 87 + more air = problem. Perhaps a change of air correction jets if you want to run 87....................?
For me, I'll run the 95 leaded or not, whatever I can get and the bike drinks it all the same way......yum !
