alarm/remote start
So my friend bought his bike and the old owner gave him a brand new alarm/remote engine starter and said it would work just fine on motorcycles. how would the remote starter work with the kickstand switch and I dont park my bike in neutral so would it have to be parked in neutral? has anyone ever installed one before? I will be installing it on either his bike or mine just to see what its like but if it goes on my bike I am going to just cap the engine start wires cause I have no need for that but I am just wondering if anyone else has done it and how it works.
the rspart is simple hook up you hot and ground wires and tap into the clutch and starter wire. As for the bike I am not sure. You would have to make the bike believe the kickstand is up and clutch engaged constantly. I personally would not do it. I have remote starts on my cars but I also like for them to be warm in the winter when I jump in. I dont usually ride my bike in the winter.
ya its just not worth it and my bike doesn't take long to warm up anyways so it would not do me anything but entertain me so im not going to put it in.
actually you can install a remote start on a motorcycle and it be pretty safe. the only problem you could have is making sure you park on flat ground because of it being in neutral. To use it the bike would have to be in neutral. Remote starts have several safeties to keep them from started when its in gear etc. since the bike has a light for when it is in neutral and a kickstand sensor it should be cake to properly install the alarm/ remote start.

I just installed yet another remote start system this week (dei viper 5501) and can tell you, hooking one up on a bike would be easy enough to do safely. There's options built into them for use in manual transmission cars that you can enable that require a specific shutdown sequence to be used in order to enable the autostart to engage next time you try to use it. Means it won't try to start unless you specifically set the bike up TO remote start last time you parked it. Using the kick stand sensor switch and tapping into the signal that lights the neutral light on the dash to run a relay that acts as the neutral safety input for the remote starter would be easy enough. However, if anything you just read doesn't make sense to you, pay someone who knows what they are doing to do it. Not something you want to just "tinker" with and learn by trial and error.
i have the python 990 on my bike, and i love it. but they do take time to put on depending on the bike the hondas usually have the hardest install. the f4i have a wire that has to see the correct voltage or it wont start its like a security wire so its harder to steal. you have to make a couple bypasses so you need to be good with resistiors and that kind of stuff. my brother installed mine and he has been in the car audio business for 5 years, it took him 8hrs to get it all done. when its done correctly if the bike is in gear it wont turn over, when its remote started if you touch the break or give it some gas it turns right off so someone wont hop on and ride off. its great to see ppl try that. if you have any questions on it just pm me.
the only thing about that that bothers me is my neutral light dosent always come on, the bikes been beet a bit, and I never trust the light to tell me Im in neutral sometimes it even comes on when switching from frist to second and stays lit
