98 F3 Starting Issues
I had a few issues before, changed the battery and spark plugs and everything worked nicely, didnt get around to changing the oil. I rode it around about 3 miles without to many problems died a few times after reving up to 8kish and letting it come back down in first.
Then when reving it died and after that it wouldnt start. So I pulled the throttle and got it to go. Now its not starting at all, Im thinkin I fouled the spark plugs again. Its also in need of an Oil change could this have caused the bike to die while shifting? Tomorrow I plan on cleaning my brand new spark plugs and changing the oil. But before I do this I wanted to know if you guys think there might be something else I should do to fix it?
I checked my spark plugs two of them look good and two of then are dark and sooty, from left to right: good sooty good sooty. Should I go buy two new plugs to replace the dark sooty ones?
How do I go about cleaning my carbs and what sort of things would I need, after looking through the repair manual I can find anything other than the synchronizing them. A little more information would be helpful.
And would dirty carbs even be causeing what is happening to my bike? It cranks but doesnt start and ocationally backfires when cranking.

Well running rich is going to require some carb work!! Have the carbs ever been cleaned? Synchronizing carbs can be a pain if you don't have the experience. Not sure where you are from but you may be looking at $300 for a shop to clean the carbs for you, otherwise its all about trial and error if you have some mechanical skills.
