Default 929 problem

I was driving my 2000 929 yesterday when for no reason it died. I pulled over and noticed that when i turned the key to on I couldn't hear the fuel pump run. I let the bike sit for five minutes and tried it again, this time the fuel pump turned on and the bike started. I didn't have that problem for the rest of the day. Anyone had or heard of this problem and know how to prevent it from happening again?
Thanks

Inspect the fuel filter and add an in line 1 as well...and check routing of the tank vent hose also to ensure that it is not pinched and causing vapor lock

I took the gas tank off and found that the ground wire to the fuel pump was barely connected. I reconnected it and ran an extra ground wire to the frame. I haven't had a problem since.
