'04 CBR 600 F4i Rattling Sound?
Hi friends!
Well I turned on my bike this evening and noticed that I have a bad rattle coming from the bike.. It only is noticable when I give the bike throttle. I slowly throttle the bike and I can here a rattle, which intensifies as I give it more gas.
My initial thought is that I must have a loose bolt or fastener on the block somewhere vibrating away...
But then a friend of mine who also has a CBR has a similar rattle coming from his bike. The rattle I hear from his bike is less than mine but it sounds the same...
When I last had the bike tuned up it also had a rattle, but after the tune up the rattle was gone.. Is this normal?

Sound like a tin can full of nails being rattled around? CCT (cam chain tensioner) rattling. Either replace with another factory CCT (notorious for going bad again) or get a manual CCT adjuster like the APE - about $65.
The factory CCT is lubricated and some pressure is supplied by the engine oil being pushed into it. Possible yours was stuck and an oilchange fixed it, or your mechanic did something to make it work a little better. Or you might already have a manual CCT installed and he retensioned it properly.
Well documented on these forums. Here's the thread on the F4 section: https://cbrforum.com/forum/f4i-main-forum-11/cctl-thread-78155/

Yeah that is the sound. Well my mechanic did say that I need a new CCT. I assume that I have a stock one as I have never changed mine for a manual one. Which is better?
I have another threat on here about how my mechanic believes that my engine has low compression. I thought that I may need a new CCT which may correct the low compression issue... I was told thats not right... So I am going with a full and thorough tune up... with a new CCT... do you think I may fix my pssible comression issue?

A tune up wont fix a CCT , but can dull the noise because the engine is generally running smoother afterwards with balanced carbs... ect ...ect
