Default Rattling sound

Hi Guys, I am new to the forum, Thought this would be a good place to ask my question
I have a 2001 F4i, and I notice when I get the revs up above 5-6k, I get a slight rattling sound from the bike. I took it into the shop, for I could not figure it out on my own, and the tech said it was my cam chain tenshioner (how you spell that??). Anyway he wanted like 200+ dollors to replace it, pluse 2 weeks to get the part. What I was wondering was, would this be the cause of my rattle sound, and could this be something I can replace on my own??? Thanks for the info, and anything pointers you guys give me.

yep its the tensioner. get a APE cam chain tensioner i did. i paid 45 bucks for one off ebay and i can send you the guys link for it. i was going to install it myself. there are very good directions on there web site to do it, but i went ahead and paid to have it done. my shop charged me 168 dollars to install it. if you not sure pay to have it done. it is bad if it is set to tight and bad is it is set to loose. plus if ya get another stock one it will fail in some time. good luck

I guess this is the one I need? http://www.cbrzone.com/sprockets.html Why is the manual CCT better than the auto, just because the auto wears out? How often do you need to adjust the manual CCT?
