Default 04 600 RR Bar end removal

I have a 04 600 RR. I got chrome handle bar ends through dennis kirk. I went to put them on and the left side or the cluth side was easy i just took out the screw. But the right side or brake side, when i turn the screw the bar end and the screw turn but doesnt come loose. When i try to turm the screw and hold the bar end it broke off my screw driver and started to strip out the screw it was so tight. A guy at the service department i talked to said holding the bar end shouldnt matter and it should just un screw. I got the grip off, but still cant see anything. HELP has anyone ever taken theres off? If so i would really appreiate any tips any one can offer!

Get an impact driver...(ask a hardware guy how to use them)...and a good sized ball-peen hammer.

Sounds like the screw is stuck in the handlebar weight. You can actually pull the whole assembly out if you have to. What is probably happening is that the screw has corroded in the handlebar weight and when you turn the screw, the weight is turning also. So... you will never loosen it with it inside the bar. You will have to pull it out and then take the necessary means to loosen it. Here is a link to see what you’re dealing with. It's an online fiche, but you can still see what I am talking about. The handlebar weight is held in place by two rubber garments and they are probably just moving (spinning) in your case. Best of luck!!
