02 f4i won't stay running. NEED HELP!!
got a weird problem goin on with my 02 f4i. it only stays running if the start button is pushed in, as soon as u let go of the start button it dies. also i noticed i don't hear the normal buzz from the fuel pump when it is turned on. the bike hasn't been dropped or tipped over or anything like that. i thought maybe the engine cut off relay could be bad but i don't hear the fuel pump prime itself like normal or thought maybe fuel pump could be bad but the bike runs fine with the start button pushed in. it has been running fine and all of a sudden this happens. any help or hints will be greatly appreciated.

mate its not in gear with the side stand down?, or have you checked your kill switch, if soemone has turned that off on you it can really be embarressin, also check for loose connections, have you lifted the tank recently?, might have disconnected the fuel pump by accident... does the bike fire at all, or does it just turn over with the starter?... cant be anything hard, though if your fuel pump has packed it in that could be expensive..... on another thought, if you are worried about your tip over sensor, pull it out and manuallt tip it, and see if you fuel pump starts or not..... hope this helps..

RE: 02 f4i won't stay running. NEED HELP!!
here's a scenario: i turn the ignition switch to on. no fuel pump prime noise is heard. all the lights are working. kickstand is up. fuel cut off switch is turned on(allowing fuel to flow). put the bike in neutral. starts right up. as soon as i let go of the start button it dies. i start the bike again and hold the start button in and it stays idling like normal. no fi lights or anything. bike hasn't been dropped or tipped over. my gf had to ride it home but the only way it would stay running is she taped the start button so it would stay pushed in. i haven't done anything to the bike. this just happened out of no where. i'm going to check the tip sensor by the headlights and also check to see if i have voltage going to the fuel pump. other than that i'm stumped. honda said it could be a ton of things. its just weird that if it would be a fuel problem then why does the bike run normal when i keep start button pushed in? but then its weird when i turn the bike on, i don't hear the fuel pump prime buzz noise.
