i have a 2000 CBRf4, bought used. Have had it no problems for a little under 4 months. Sunday I installed a digital gear indicator, and took it for a test ride to program and use. Tuesday i tried to ride it up to the local bike shop but it kept dying on me when i gave it throttle. I figured it was because it was still cold. Choked it, rode off to the end of my street, went to leave and it died on me again. Now it wont even start. Ended up having a dead battery. Bought a new battery today, installed, it starts but dies after a few seconds. Especially if i give it throttle. i know this could mean i need new spark plugs but what else could be wrong with it? This is my first bike and have no idea about bikes. Any advice is welcome and wanted.

 

did you take the fuel tank off to install the indicator? Sounds like it could be a pinched fuel line.

 

nope, tapped into the wire cluster thats comes out of the instrument panel

 

Just for grins have you tried removing the digitalgear indicator?

 

Well i changed my battery which was reading 9v when a load was out on it. So new battery, wont fire now. Im pretty sure i just have bad spark plugs

 

NEW INFO! It RUNS!, changed spark plugs and she fired right up. Thanks to all who gave advice.
