Will installing a 190/55/17 be a bad idea?

I am familiar with rev-matching, learned about it years ago when dropped another bike. But I think you might be right anyway. It was late, I was tired and think I was slacking off. It only takes one time. I do know I hit something slick.

Good to hear you'll be back on the bike asap. Sunrise Hwy can be deceptive in spots. No telling what exactly happened but glad you came out of it reasonably ok. Good too that you could ride the bike home... There's not much out there.

Did you know that Sunrise Hwy was one of Steve McQueen's favorite roads? He would hang out in Pine Valley too.

190 55 is the **** mcgee. On the street you'll never need it but it's a quick way to increase turn in since it's a taller tire. A 190/55 will give you more max lean angle but possibly make transitions slower. Nothing to worry about on the street (especially if you consider most people run a 180 at stock height) but I wouldn't hesitate to run either.

190 rear that isen't designed for a 5.5" rim? No thanks. Theres a reason bikes with 190's have 6" rims from the factory.

^ There is validity in boredandstroked's statement. The 190 was developed for the 6" wheel. The 180/55 is perfect for the F4/F4i 5.5' wheel. If you were to run the 190/55 on the 5.5" wheel, the tire is actually getting pinched on the smaller wheel, changing the tire's contour profile, reducing the contact patch. You would not have any increased grip or gain any practical benefit. You would just be running a heavier tire not designed for the wheel application. Stick w/ what the bike was designed for...the 180/55.
