Default Any idea want could cause this?

1996 CBR900, It ran great 5 months ago. Today after getting it somewhat started, fuel pours out of what I think is the air cleaner vent tube. Looks like a hose that comes from the front of the air cleaner, wraps around one side and just ends. There isn't anywhere for this hose to hoop up to. ( Right side if sitting on the bike) Now the bike hardly runs, backfires, and gas streams out of that hose if I force it to run by reving it. Any idea what could cause this? Thanks for any help.

Adjust your floats in your carbs that's what sounds like the problem. If you pull your tank and air box off. Disconnect the vent tubes at the top of your carbs.the should be connected together and try to start it if fuel comes out of the vent tubes then its a float issues either need adjusted or ar stuck and need cleaned.

I had the same issue with my 96 900RR when I bought it, after it sat for 2 years. My bike was running rough and had gas pouring out of one of the tubes. Not sure if it was the correct way, but my brother plugged it and ran the bike for a few runs up and down his block. After that, unplugged it and it stopped.

We did pull the tank and airbox off, also. Once it was run for a while, and the couple of high speed runs up his block things went back to normal. Bike has run great since.
