What chain to get
#21
Dang! If you want very specific answers, ask Trout The Jedi Master, he knows all! JK
But +1 b/c I have the Gold RK X-Ring Racing chain(520) also. It has never been a problem and i got it for about $70 on ebay.
So there's definitely good deals out there you just gotta do a little homework like 2H Company said.

I was looking for something cheap to get by for a few months and came upon this http://www.d2moto.com/showproduct.as...-108-links-red
Anyone have experience with this chain?

i did this at the end of riding season a year or so ago. it was no problem, just followed the write-up on here.
my bike already had -1/+2 on them, 520, when i got it, so i decided to keep the ratio but went with525 for the durability. it was no prob, i dont have a lift, i just jacked up the bike, used toe straps and hooked them to the handlebars, then to the rafters for stability, and used some wooden stands to put the swingarm on after i took the tire off.
i found a an RGK change and vortex sprocket set paired together off ebay for a reasonable price, cant recall exactly what it was right now but i would look for a set together, they also cut the chain to the right amt of links before shipping it to me so it made it that much more simple

just thought i would throw it out there but i have a 15t 525 jt steel sprocket (witch is -1) i could part with as soon as i install my new chain if some one is interested...it has maybe 100 miles.. pretty sure i gave just under $20 for it and will ship it for that(obo)..in us only...i personally liked the stock gearing better.. i read some where that going down 1 tooth in the front is like going up 4 teeth in the rear, not sure it that is true but it did make a difference in rpm on the highway...if it's true about the gearing i might go to a +2 on rear, not sure yet...

i like the -1/+2 but that may just be because im used to it. this is my first street bike so ive been riding 3 years on that gearing. i tried my buddies f4i when he had one with stock gearing and it felt weird. not necessarily slow, but not was quick off the start. i figured i go 0-40mph alot more than i go 120-160mph so id rather have the low end torque. but i guess with your highway MPG's it would have some affect. i'm not sure how much bc i dont have anything to compare it to
