Default RE: Weird Problem with Clutch

ok so i decided that i'll go ahead and replace the clutch and friction plates since i'm 80% sure it is related to that. however, when looking on different sites like bikebandit.com, it shows only f4 and not f4i. are they the same parts for the tranny? i would assume so but i could be totally off. And also they didn't make a f4 in 2003 did they? Sorry, i've been a yamaha guy for way too long and just got into honda's.

I say take it to a shop and get your clutch adjusted, you probably messed up something when adjusting it. Sounds over tightened to me. The cable could be damaged, or maybe the plunger is messed up at the lever, who knows but don't go ripping into the internals for no reason. Was it even slipping before or showing signs of wear?

well it sounds to me that your clutch is done!!!
i had the same problem 2 months ago on my 06 f4i... after a burnout my clutch would not disangage or engage, so i adjusted the cable from the lever, got a little bit of engagement, then it got worse in days...and my clutch was also slipping at hard acceleration or high rpm's...
so i changed my clutch with a barnett c/f....let me tell you man-day and night...all my problems went away.
so it's definetly your clutch in my opinion, and i will also recommend the barnett clutch kit, i got it for 156$ of ebay...good luck
this is my old clutch...still looks good to me, but it was fried

If yourclutch is slipping under hard accel, then yes definitly the friction plates in the clutch if it doesn't your problem is else where.
