Default Does the PC3 alter idle speed at start up?

Hi guys,
This was posted in one of my other threads however i figured this would get more exposure.
I have a bike with a PC3 and a bike with out one both 2001 both f4i's. Now the bike with out the PC3 when starting up cold will only idle up to 1500 MAX before dropping down to 1100 - 1200 Now the stock bike with no PC3 which was downed Will idle up to almost 3000rpm before dropping back down. Now Is this only because of the PC3? or is there something wrong with my current street bike?
thanks!
Jason

Someone jump in if i'm wrong because I might be...

The power commander only changes the fuel settings, not the air. the ECU controls the idle speed depending on engine temperature. I've seen 3000 before on my bike pleanty of times and never thought anything of it. once the bike heats up, she should drop back down.

what does your bike idle at when heated up?

colder starts can give higher starting rpms.

I have set both bikes next to each other same ambient temperature. Start up. One goes up to 3k and my other bike goes to 1.5k tops then both drop down the one that went to 3k drops to around 1300-1200 the other one drops to 1200-1100 sometimes 1000...

is this a problem? Whats wrong with the ecu if its computer controled?

It's perfectly normal for the engine to idle at a high rpm when first started so that the engine does not stall due to higher oil viscosity, which in turn causes higher internal friction from the engine's components, i.e., piston rings, rod and crankshaft bearings, etc. just be happy your bike is doing the job and go ride it!

if it's really bothering you that much, swap out the ECU's and see if you get the same effect... or just unplug the power commander and see if that does anything.

personally, i wouldn't worry about this. both bikes will go 200,000 miles regardless.
