Default Turn signal/running light question...

I have a set of hotbodies flush mounts for directionals now, I want to put integrated mirror/turns on.

My idea was to use the running light wire from the stock wiring to run the flush mounts as running lights, and use the turn signal wiring to the mirror/turns.

Anyone see a problem with using the hotbodies flushies for running lights? Just wondering about the longevity of the led etc...

Worse case I could run the turns together (Flushies and Mirrors)

I believe you will need to use a type of resistor to have a led on as a running light. Not exactly sure though.

I think you are talking about a little dealeo that allows you to use flush mounts as turn signals AND running lights, seeing how there are only 2 wires ground and positive you would need some type of three wire convertor.

There is 3 wires going to the factory blinkers, Ground, running light, and blinker...

I want to send just the blinker wire to the turns in the mirrors (which is easy) and send the running light wire to the led flush mounts. Of course both lights to be grounded.

My question is more if there would be a problem with the flush LED staying on, without blinking. I believe there wouldn't be but just looking to make sure.

there shouldnt be. ive had mine as running and signal for months now and have had no problem with it. most leds with last for over 100,000 hours (supposedly) so they should be fine staying on for quite a while

You'll be fine. I just added intregrated mirrors and also left my flushmounts as running lights. The LED's will probably outlast your bike, so don't worry about it. The only thing that bothers me is the running lights go out when I turn on the turn signal. I'd like still be pretty visible from the side at night, since my bike is all black, so that's something that I will probably look into fixing if it's not too hard.

bassJam,
Can you post any pictures of your mirror/turn signals?
Thanks.

Sorry, it was deer gun season here last weekand I took off work, so I've pretty much stayed off the internet and enjoyed my vacation. I'll try to get some pics either tonight to tomorrow night.

I ended up running both mirror and flushies as signals.... Nice for people in my blind spot if I don't see them they can see the blinker on the side and maybe slow or beep.

dondi, here's the pics. They came out a little grainy since my camera does not do very good with low-light pics.

I'm thinking I may wire both themirror and side lights up to blink like sharker did. I was originally worried there would not be enough current to run both sets of lights and they would be dim, but the more I though about it I realized that LED's dont use as much energy to light, so it should still be fine.
