Default tire question?

So I finally need a rear tire and have decided to got with the dunlop Q3 sportmax tire and was wondering if my stock tire size is 180/55/R17 could I put a 190/50/R17 both have a 73w.
and if it does fit would this be any benefit or would i just be wasting the couple extra dollars?

If your going with something in their DOT race slick line then yes, the 190's are designed for a 5.5" wide rim. But your not, so its a dumb idea. It will work, but won't accomplish anything except having a weirdly shaped, bigger tire.

Ok cool that's all was lookin for u know on cars gives them more a staggered look and provides a little more grip but I would rather save the couple extra dollars in this case

No problem. Just like on cars if you mount tires larger then the rim they were designed for it pinches the sidewalls. On a bike that screws up the profile which is nessacary for riding.

Very true, mounted a slightly bigger tire onto my girlfriend's 250R a couple years ago and it changed the character of the bike. I would recommend sticking with the manufacturer's specs. As mentioned, it changes the profile of the tire and it will behave differently than intended.

Thanks for the input been a while since my last bike and something's have been harder scrubbing the rust off than others so deffinetly not looking to change any of the characteristics of the bike
