Default Another tire question

Ok,I just ordered a set of Pilot 3s after doing a search. I ordered a 120/70 and a 150/70. The stock size is the 80 series. I thought that was the general consensus but now I'm stresing about not ordering the 80 series that are the stock recomendation. The thing is that I can send them back unopened and change to the 80's at my expense if I did make a mistake. What do you folks think, did I make a mistake? They should be here Friday.

My shop manual lists the stock sizes for a 1990-91 cbr1000f as:

front 120/70 vr 17
rear 170/60 vr 17

I'm running the stock size on the front. On he rear I am running a 180/55. It seems to work very well. I did not notice any adverse handling or fit issues with the larger rear. 150 does not sound correct to me.

I should have explained that mine is an 88 with the more narrow rims. The factory manual calls for a 110/80v17 and the rear calls for a 140/80v17. What I'm concerned about is having ordered the 70mm height rather than the 80mm height. thanks for the reply.

80s would be to tall. If my understanding is correct the 80 stands for the height 80% of the width.

The 70 profile should be fine - it's just a slightly smaller side wall on the tyre. It may affect the speedo very slightly.

Good to go I'd say...............

I believe the 70 and 80 are mm. in height. What Iwas looking at while researching for this year came up with the 70 series but after thinking it over it made me uncomfortable. It's ony 10mm. but I think I got in too much of a hurry to get an order in. I believe the spedo will read a little high but I still can send them back when they get here if the 80s are better. I was trying to avoid an other tire post but that didn't work out too well.

People do not mind questions on anything if they can see you have already tried looking yourself but are still unsure.

The 70 is the aspect ratio. It means the sidewall is 70% of the width. 70% of 120 is pretty darn close to 80% of 110. The overall diameter is probably a litte smaller, but not much. If those tires fit the rim, id run them.
