when I shift down (to stop) the engine intermittently sounds like the throttle is sticking. - engine should be winding down as the throttle lets off and brakes are applied while downshifting, but when I get into second or first gear (on the way down), the enginedoesnt wind down as it should. I hope I am being clear with this - does anyone have any ideas?

 

maybe try lubing the cable or check the idle.

 

lubing which cable? throttle? this problem doesnt happen all the time, so im having problems figuring out what it could be. wouldnt a sticky throttle cable stick most of the time?

 

Im not really sure but it wouldnt hurt to lube it if you havnt done it. I lube all my cables when i change my oil. Its just a thought

Maybe it only happens when the bike is cold so the revs remain in high idle?

 

it could be tha fact that the bike is cold like idl said or the idle is set to rev higher
