sticking throttle?
hey all, Im still somewhat new to the site
I wanted to mention, 2 nights ago, I was riding and it was probably around 33 degrees that night I was riding home from a late dinner). My 99 f4 started no problem with the choke and I waited for her to warm up before riding. A couple of minutes into the ride, I noticed that when I pulled the throttle back and let go of it, it seemed as if it would hang and slowly come back to idle.
I was coming up to a light from about 60mph and the bike stayed at around 4-5k rpm. I had the clutch level pulled back and I tried to twist the throttle forward but it didn't work, it was still revving high.
I turned off the bike and started her up and the same thing would happen. I turned it off again...played with the throttle by pulling it back and twisting it forward a couple of times, then started the bike and it seemed normal.
Has anyone had this kind of problem or know what could have happened for this to happen?
Any help is appreciated, thanks a lot guys. Ride safe and keep warm doing it

the choke was turned off, I almost never ride with the choke on.
the high revving was gone when I twisted the throttle a couple of times with the engine off.
I asked a guy at work who's been riding goldwings, shadows and harleys said most likely, the oil in the cable started getting thick in the extreme cold and therefore getting it stuck.
any1 know if that is possible?
thanks

check the cables. if you twisted it back and it still reved high, that would suggest the pull to close cable is broke. You have to cables, one opens the butteflies when you accelerate, the other pulls em closed as you decel. if the latter one breaks the carbs rely on the springs on the carbs alone, and often get hung.
