Default Tank repair?

Okay, so I'm buying my friends F4i, but there is a dent in his tank from his knee. He got hit by a truck (he wasn't hurt other than some knee pain) and it caused a, well knee sized dent in the side of the tank. My question is would it be cheaper to pay someone to pop out the dent, then paint it or completely buy a new tank?

I would post a picture of the dent, but unfortunately the bike is all stored away for winter.

If you pull out the pump module, you may be able to pop it out with your hand or a very blunt object.

I've talked to a few of my friends who do bike work and they've said there are a few ways to do it. I've heard beating it out, pulling it out, and various other ways. I was just looking to see if anyone had any other input.

Thanks for the reply.

Well a new painted tank is over $500 so decals body and paint should be alot less.
bikebandit.com list oem painted tanks.

That's what I kind of figured. I was hoping not to buy a new tank, so this works out. Thanks for the reply.
